Hillcrest, for all of its burgeoning commercial and residential activity, had, until recently, one serious gap: a lack of good exclusive hotels.

Spotting this flaw, and now filling the niche very beautifully, owners Joanna and George Campbell.

The pair had just opened the brand new rather exquisite Valley Lodge, a small and intimate boutique hotel off Inanda Road. Classy, comfortable, “and a home away from home”, even before its official opening at the beginning of October, it has already had its first delighted guests.

“There was absolutely nothing in the upper Highway area like this,” says the blue-eyed remarkably attractive Joanna. “We have 10 suites, suited for every taste – and very upmarket, we want guests to feel at home here, not having to tiptoe around and talk in hushed tones!”
